Molecular LFDs

Using technology to which Forsite has exclusive rights, your OEM LFDs can be used as the basis for molecular characterisation following the immunoassay result.  If your LFD customers would benefit from molecular ‘follow-up’ analysis - for virus typing etc - then let’s discuss the world of possibilities available through combining LFDs with PCR.

There are occasions when you require greater specificity from POC testing, and our molecular follow-up technology is a rapid and cost effective method to achieve this.  In summary, a lateral flow test is carried out on your sample and a piece of the assay membrane is then used directly in a PCR reaction.  In a matter of minutes, you can have a result based on the specificity and sensitivity of a polymerase chain reaction.

Forsite has exclusive rights to apply this protected technology and we launched the PDplus service in 2008 for the species-level diagnosis of the plant pathogen Phytophthora.  Since then, many other applications have been explored.

For customers who require pathogen typing or other highly specific identification, our molecular follow-up technology could be a significant advantage.  Under an agreement with Forsite, we would manufacture your LFDs and grant you permission to carry out the PCR follow-up.  This combination of LFD and PCR is available exclusively from Forsite.
